Mills Sacked

Mills was sacked after a board meeting yesterday, but has been offered an as yet unspecified role within the club.

'He can't hurt us anymore'
Mills spent just nine disasterous months at the helm at Meadow Lane, but has seen his side plunge dangerously down 'League Two', after relegation from the then-named Division Two last season.

The 42-year-old former County player came with a big ego and big ideas but, ultimately, wasn't up to the job.

Magpies skipper Ian Richardson will take charge of Saturday's match against Shrewsbury Town, with long-serving coach John Gaunt acting as his assistant.

Mills' former assistant, Darron Gee, has insisted he remains the club's assistant manager, however.

NCM will bring you more on Mills' departure throughout the day.
