Mills: Quality additions on the way

The Notts boss insisted that the days of player power are long gone, with hundreds of players set to be without clubs in the summer, and he insists the Magpies should be able to compete for the best available.

And with the club now run more sensibly, Mills insisted that Notts will not be held to ransom by players- as it has been in the past.

"I have no doubt that the balance of power is shifting back in the favour of clubs," Mills told the Evening Post.

"The days when players are able to demand what they want when it comes to wages are gone.

"And from that point of view, I believe we are going to be able to compete when it comes to signing good players.

"We are not going to be spending big money, but then neither is anyone else.

"Players are going to be in a position where they will be happy to take what they can.

"There are going to be hundreds of them looking for new clubs over the summer and even the good ones are going to have to be realistic when it comes to a new deal.

"I think we can profit from that. I am confident that we can make some good signings."

He also insisted that his players will have an all-round better attitude next season.

"We are going to be at a point where that £20 win bonus really means something again," he said. "That will be important to a lot of players, because they will be earning the kind of money where that will be important.

"I don't doubt that there have been some players who were just interested in getting paid as much as they could.

"If there were any players like that at Notts, they have gone now.

"There certainly won't be any like that in the future."
