Mills: Lost For Words

Last updated : 11 April 2004 By Joanna Walker
After slipping behind after only nine minutes into the game, Notts were destined never to get back into the game after the opening performance was diabolical and set the tone for the rest of the game – a surprise to most after last weekend’s fantastic 4-1 win over Blackpool at Meadow Lane.

Mills told the Club’s Official Website after the match; “It was very disheartening, and today I was lost for words. It was a massive game for us, and the team I sent out just didn't do it for me. You can't hide from it; we were poor and second best in every department all afternoon.”

Obviously Mills is not the only person to be down-hearted as I would imagine like me, most fans now believe our fate has been almost decided for us. Mills recognised the main problems and is keen to address them in time for Easter Monday’s clash at home with Sheffield Wednesday, where changes HAVE to

Bolland: Has To Start Tomorrow
be made.

“We have not started well in the last few games, and today there were some very sad performances from a number of players. We deserved to lose 4-1, and that is something I won't hide from.

We were also outfought, and that hurts me because that is something I don't expect from the players. We have to battle on now, and keep going and hopefully we can bounce back on Monday.”

But Mills does believe that Notts can bounce back from the loss and turn things around enough to beat Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow:

“If we perform like we did against
Blackpool we will stay up, but we have to starting performing better and quickly if we want to avoid the drop.

We are hoping there will be a good turnout tomorrow, as it isn’t too far for Wednesday fans to come for this match, along with a good atmosphere.

There are five games and fifteen points available, and our home form of late has been very, very good, so we want to maintain that and I hope that it can continue tomorrow.”

I, for one, hope ‘Millsy’ is right, as with fifteen points still to play for, I feel we can still prove the critics wrong BUT only if the lads fight for a win in every single one of the remaining five games.
Especially with three of our remaining five games being at home and our home form has been extremely promising of late – Notts have not been beaten at home in the last six outings at Meadow Lane.

So, you know what’s coming now! Get down
Meadow Lane tomorrow afternoon and support the lads. It may prove to be a thrilling decider as far as the season is concerned. Enjoy!
