Mills lets another one go

Commons, a Nottingham-born midfielder, was believed to be on the brink of the first team squad when handed the number 30 squad number in the summer by Mills.

However, the youngster was only handed a three-month deal in pre-season and, after a loan spell at non-league Grantham Town, he clearly didn't do enough to impress Mills that he was worthy of a new deal and had the potential to dislodge the (ahem) dynamite midfield trio of Paul Bolland, Matthew Gill and Craig Pead.

Commons (pictured right), whose older brother Kris plays for Notts' local neighbours Nottm Forest, has struggled with injuries during his time at Meadow Lane. After struggling with an ankle injury in 02/03, he then slipped two discs in his back. An injury, that ruled him out for the entirety of last season.

Despite this, when fit he has shown he has a promising future in the game. He is now expected to join another former Notts youth team player, Willis Francis, at Grantham on a permanent deal.

We wish him all the best.
