Mills: I want Pipe Permanently

Last updated : 23 March 2004 By Rob Davies
Pipe has been an absoloute revelation since joining on loan for an original month back in January. He has since extended his loan deal twice, most recently yesterday, for a further month.

And Mills, like every single Notts fan there is, wants the pacey right-sider to make his move to Meadow Lane permanent.

"We have managed to secure him for another month's loan and we have spoken for the first time about the possibility of bringing him here permanently." the Notts boss told the Evening Post.

"He says that he likes it at the club, in fact says he loves it. My argument is that, if that is the case, it shouldn't matter which division the club is in.

"As a player, you should always want to be at a club where you are happy and, if that is the case for him here, then I don't see why he shouldn't stay.

"As things stand, he hasn't said no and he seems fairly positive about the idea, but wants a little time to think about it."

But Mills won't give Pipe too long to think about it.

"Ideally, I would like to see him make a decision in the very near future, because we don't want to be in a position where we could end up losing him for the last four matches," said Mills.

"If we don't sign him permanently, that is what will happen because we would have had him for three months and be unable to extend that."

NCM Opinion

IF Notts could sign Pipe it could be just the boost that the club needs. Pipe is too good for Division Two, make no mistake about it.

It seems to me that- quite understandably- the pacey Coventry man won't make his mind up until he knows what League we'll be playing in next season. And despite what Mills says, this DOES make a difference.

When some people have even been talking about Pipe as our player of the season, it just shows how well he's done. What I can't understand, is why Coventry just don't recall him, they surely can't have 11 better players than him?!

And that, surely, is the major concern for Notts fans.
