Mills: Delighted With Win

The Notts gaffer believes the emphatic win over Blackpool will be the catalyst for Notts to pull clear of the relegation zone and avoid relegation indefinitely.
Notts County manager Gary Mills said the win over Blackpool was a morale boosting victory, which changed the shape of things at the bottom of the table.

Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post; “We've also gained a point on the club just above the drop zone, and with six games to go we've dragged quite a few teams higher up into it. They'll now be looking over their shoulders.

If we're going to get out of the bottom four, the important thing is we have to be braver and not just sit back soaking up pressure.”

And after seeing both starting strikers (Heffernan and Scoffham) bag a goal

Heffs: Hit His 20th Goal Of The Season
each, along with the most spectacular strike from winger Tony Scully – whose goal was voted as best Division Two on Sky Sports Goals on Sunday earlier today – gave Notts a comfortable and rare 3-0 half time lead, it is clear why Mills and everyone else connected to the club was delighted. Paul Heffernan then sealed the win with his 20th goal of the season after Notts conceded after the re-start.

Mills said: “It was very important that we won today and we're obviously delighted. We've worked very, very hard in recent weeks and haven't always got our reward until now.

It shows we can win football matches and gives everyone at the club a lift.”

And, ‘Millsy’ has every right to be pleased with yesterday’s result, after last weekend’s opposite score-line (well nearly!). He has learnt from the mistakes made last weekend and obviously worked on them in training with the lads during the week and the result was 3 points –3 vital points as Notts can (and still will), beat the drop.

Another excellent performance and 3 more points at Layer Road next Saturday when the Magpies take on the incredibly unpredictable Colchester United, will no doubt make the manager (and, us fans) even more happier and of course, it will set the scene prefectly for Easter Monday’s hugely anticipated local clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
