Mildy to Blackpool?

Last updated : 23 July 2004 By Rob Davies
Mildenhall, who has been available for transfer after turning down a 20% pay-cut at the start of the summer, is at Bloomfield Road discussing terms with the League One side today.

Adios
The 26-year-old stopper had been believed to have a future at Meadow Lane, however, when he was preferred to Saul Deeney for the friendlies against Northwich and Swindon Town. Boss Gary Mills had also spoken of his admiration for Mildenhall's desire and admitted he hoped an agreement could be arranged with the highly-rated keeper soon.

However, that same 'desire' appears to have now alerted the same clubs who have ignored Mildenhall all summer. And after Hull City pulled out of the race, Blackpool- who have ex County boss Billy Dearden as assistant- are now in pole position to land the former Swindon goalkeeper.

Should Mildenhall leave, it would leave Notts manager Mills with a slight crisis in goal, with Deeney- who himself has made just 11 league appearences- asthe only senior keeper on the clubs books.

With the hunt for a replacement very much on the cards, there is already talk of clubless Pegguy Arphexad, who endured a nightmare one-month loan at Meadow Lane last season, returning to the club.
