Mildy frozen out

Mildenhall is already on the transfer list after refusing to take a pay-cut of around 20% nearly two months ago. The stopper is the only player who remains of those given (expensive) contracts under the Storrie/Scardino era and is far and away the club's highest earner.

And the 26-year-old was recently axed of his number 1 shirt number and handed the number 26 jersey for the upcoming season.

But, while it was expected Mildenhall would originally start as young Irishman Saul Deeney's understudy, it now appears he is completely out of the picture.

"This is not a malicious decision," Mills told the Evening Post. "It is nothing personal.

"I have sat down with Steve and he understands the situation. But the fact is we have taken the decision that we cannot afford to play him under the terms of his current contract.

"It is for that reason that he will not feature in the match-day squads this coming season, whether on the bench or in the starting team."

Mildenhall is widely-thought to be longing for a move back to his former club Swindon Town, and the big keeper is still well-thought of around those parts.

Ambitious manager Mills is actively seeking cover for Irishman Deeney, who himself has made a total of 9 league starts. Ex-Forest reserve Pascal Formann is currently on-trial at Meadow Lane.
