Mildenhall Recovering Well

Mildenhall is hoping to be back in training in a little over a month's time but knows he will not feature in any games this season now.

Instead, he is now focusing on getting a full pre-season programme under his belt and getting back in action again next season after having two operations to save his thumb after a recurring sentence throughout the season.

The ligaments in his thumb became detached for a second time this season and the thumb has now been repaired by having a tendon from his arm transplanted into his thumb.

“As with any operation, there was always the chance there could be complications.
And obviously for a goalkeeper the thumb is probably the most important part of your body. But, thankfully, everything seems to have gone okay.”
Mildenhall told the Nottingham Evening Post.

Mildenhall has also spoken of his desire to be playing again and is thankful that the operation went well but admits it is hard watching the action from the stands as he watches the team battle to get out of the relegation zone and he knows he cannot do anything about it.

“Obviously I was concerned that it could be career threatening, given that it was the same injury again. But I am assured that this should be an end to the problems now, once I get through the physiotherapy.” said Mildenhall.

“It is murder being sat on the sidelines. It is bad enough when you are left out the team, but when you physically can't play, that is far worse.”

“To be sat in the stands watching, particularly in the situation we are in, is just awful.”

I don't blame you, Steve, it wasn't exactly easy for us to watch Pegguy Arphexad either.
