Midfielder back in?

Back in action: Nowland has been in great form recently.
Adam Nowland is fighting for fitness as he looks to retain his place in the centre of midfield.

The in-form playmaker managed just 45 minutes in the midweek loss to Darlington due to a back problem.

But he is now being classed as doubtful and may get the nod ahead of Richard Butcher - his replacement on Tuesday.

Michael Johnson could also come back into the fray after being rested meaning that Adam Tann and Phil Picken could be battling to claim the right-back spot.

Matthew Hamshaw (hamstring) and Russell Hoult are still working their way back to full fitness.

Ian McParland is hoping that the team can end their indifferent away run with a win.

He believes that the Magpies could be facing them at just the right time. Speaking to BBC Radio Nottingham, he said: "They drew on Tuesday night, and lost 3-0 to Macclesfield the previous Saturday.

"Yeah, you could say it's a good time to play them, but hopefully we don't get a backlash. I think the pitch will be OK and suit us a bit better, but I want to go there and address this away form."

Shrewsbury strikers Michael Symes and Dave Hibbert are expected to miss out through injury.

The full interview with former Magpies and Shrews striker Devon White is set to appear on the site shortly. Technical problems have unfortunately led to the delay of its appearance.
