Michael Johnson's injury in the 1-1 draw with Bournemouth might force Ian McParland to delve into the loan market this week.
The former-Jamaican international limped off after taking a knock in the latter stages of the weekend's game, but the full extent of the injury is not yet known.
Should it be a longer term problem, Notts' gaffer may decide to bring in a fresh face, because of limited options in a small squad.
With Stephen Hunt also ruled out until at least October with a groin injury, it leaves just Mike Edwards and Adam Tann as the only remaining centre-backs available for selection.
McParland has already stated that he has loan targets in mind, and could quite possibly swoop for a player if Johnson is not cleared before Saturday's clash with Accrington Stanley.
He has already shown his ability to utilise the loan market, significantly strengthening the rear-guard last year, drafting in the likes of Johnson and Russell Hoult.
