Morecambe manager Sammy McIlroy has praised his side after earning a 0-0 draw Barnet.

In the Shrimps first Football League game in their 86-year history, the boss is pleased his side managed to avoid defeat.

"It was a marvelous occasion for the club and the town- it

was great that we could mark that with our first point to get us off the mark."

He knows a lot of work needs to be done but is glad of the good start: "The game was a learning curve. We will need to make improvements in the final third but that will come. It was just super to get our first point on the board," he claimed.

Meanwhile, in a bizarre post match interview, Lincoln City boss John Schofield has urged his team to take positives from the game that saw them crushed 4-0 by Shrewsbury.

He said in a massive under statement: "It wasn't the best of starts, but there are still 45 games to go and we have to look at the positives."

Brentford manager Terry Butcher doesn't seem too down after his side could only manage a 1-1 draw with Mansfield Town.

Butcher...Expects growth
He excpects his team to get better as the season goes on: "There were a lot of positives. We're a very young side and haven't had too much continuity, so as we play together and grow together things will get better."

Meanwhile, Posh boss Darren Ferguson could not control his delight as his side cruised to a 3-0 drubbing of Rochdale.

He praised his players performance: "The lads were tremendous as individuals and the display from the team was very pleasing."

And finally, Bradford's Stuart McCall has admitted his side were fortunate to claim a point in their game with Macclesfield.

His team were awarded a penalty just before half-time that gifted them a route back into the game, but he belives they rode their luck.

"No way was that a penalty, it was a good tackle."
