McGoldrick signs for Forest

Nottingham Forest have today confirmed the signing of former Notts County forward David McGoldrick from Southampton, which is good news for the Magpies. Notts are believed to have a 20% sell-on clause, which means £200k from the £1m deal could be coming into the Magpies' coffers, which is a welcome boost on the day that voting closed for supporters' trust members to cast their ballot on the prospective takeover at the club.

McGoldrick spent two spells at Meadow Lane, firstly as a teenager when he came through the ranks and looked destined for the top, although after his move to Southampton he returned to the club briefly on loan and failed to hit the net. A successful loan spell at Bournemouth did follow though, and 12 goals in the Championship last season for the relegated Saints was enough to persuade Billy Davies to part with £1,000,000 to bring him back to Nottingham.
