The England number two is insistent upon the fact that no team in the Third Round of the FA Cup are to be taken lightly, no matter how lowly they may be and has called for his team to put in a good, workmanlike display against the Magpies, currently a massive 82 league places below ‘Boro.

Speaking to the Middlesbrough Official Site, McClaren said:
"They're a club with history and tradition, they've been to the top and had a few bad years but the FA Cup gives them an opportunity to put themselves in the limelight."
"We've watched them play on video and they have some good players, the lad Gavin Gordon up front is a handful and they've got two good wingers in Tony Scully and Gavin Graham, a lad they got from Derby."
"It's not going to be easy, these cup games never are," said McClaren. "But we want to do well in this competition and go as far as we possibly can."
"The first step is always a small step but we played Brighton in the first round of the Carling Cup and ended up winning it so we know you have to get through these games."
"I'm going to field as strong a side as I possibly can and that is helped by the welcome addition of Ugo Ehiogu, Chris Riggott, Danny Graham and Malcolm Christie into the squad."
"Notts County have got nothing to lose, they will be all attitude and they've got players capable of doing some damage so we've got to make sure they don't outwork us and that we match their attitude."
