May Player of the Month

As there was just one game played in the month of May for Notts, the winner of the Chesterfield Man of the Match poll is also awarded May's Player of the Month gong.

The award, perhaps fittingly for his superb role in Notts' march to safety, goes to on-loan goalkeeper Russell Hoult.

Owing the the performances of returning hero Michael Johnson, Hoult's excellence has perhaps been overshadowed, but despite it not being a true reflection of a month's work, it is perhaps only right that Hoult takes the crown.

He was superb at Chesterfield, keeping Notts in the game before Spencer Weir-Daley's opener with a number of good stops, one from point blank range with eventual scorer Jack Lester just five yards out.

That goal he could do nothing about, and his banter with the travelling faithful in the first half made the day even better.

Stoke City loanee Hoult has been a great find to replace injured Supporters' Player of the Season Kevin Pilkington, keeping a superb seven clean sheets in 14 games.

The 35-year old polled 46 per cent of the votes in the Man of the Match poll, with winger Myles Weston continuing his fine recent form to claim second spot on 28 per cent.

Goalscorer Weir-Daley, netting only his third Notts goal, claimed third place with 11 per cent of the votes cast, while March and April Player of the Month Johnson picked up nine per cent.

Final nominee, captain Mike Edwards, polled the remaining six per cent.
