Match Ratings

Despite the late winner, Notts were always in charge and put in a solid second half display that now leaves us dreaming before the Third Round draw this afternoon.

This is a tough one to mark, considering the standard of the opposition, because it's very easy to be too kind.

Another factor has to be that at least two of the players in the starting line-up really shouldn't have started.

Ratings- (6 Average)

Steven Mildenhall- 6, Should have saved the goal but made up for it with two excellent second half stops. Was very shaky on crosses in the first half and his kicking still needs a bit of work.

Steve Jenkins- 6, Turned inside out in the first half by a tricky winger, but his work getting forward has improved. Still hasn't quite lived up to his high reputation.

Nicky Fenton- 7, Half hearted 'tackle' on the goal, but made up for it by knocking one in at the other end. Grew as the game went on. Booked for "over celebrating".

Ian Richardson- 7, Solid as a rock. Won everything in the air, in won his fair share of tackles on the ground. Player of the season, so far.

Kevin Nicholson- 5, Surprisingly kept his place ahead of both Barras and Riley and didn't deserve to. Backed out of tackles, and was never really in the game. Have heard no word of any missing shirts as yet.

Simon Baldry- 6, Had an awful first half, but picked up his game in the second. Was booed after their idiot was sent off, although I didn't see him do much wrong, he could have made more of it. Could have scored a third at the end.

Paul Bolland- 4, Did absoloutly nothing. I think Caskey and Heffernan put in more tackles then "hard as nails" Bolland. Failed to track back for the goal. Surely Murray should have started ahead of him. Offered nothing.

Darren Caskey- 8, Central to everything Notts did and his corner delivery was much better than usual. Nearly scored with an exquisite free-kick. Had a part to play in both goals and won Sky's man of the match.

Ian Baraclough- 5, Why was he on the left wing? For the last time Billy, he's not Ryan Giggs! PLayed much better when playing more central in the second half. Sad state of affairs that a man that can't run as fast as me is playing on the wing for Notts County.

Clive Platt- 8, Star man. Had a blinder. Took his goal like a clinical finisher, hardly his description at the start of the season. Could have had a hat-trick but his all round performance was outstanding. Looked as good on the ground as he did in the air.

Paul Heffernan- 7, Looked tricky when given the chance but struggled against big defenders for the majority of the game. Should have scored when he curled an effort over from about 10 yards out. Deserves to keep his place.

Sub

Adam Murray (On 83- Bolland)- 6, Should have started and had no time to emulate his excellent display of last week.
