Within a month of having signed for the Magpies, defender Dan Martin is already reaping the benefits of first team involvement.

The 18-year old defender debuted in the club’s opening fixture at Torquay nearly two weeks ago, but has failed to feature for the Magpies since. Despite this, however, the youngster has earned his second under-21 call-up in as many weeks.

After earning his first cap in midweek against Malta, Martin is hopeful of appearing against their English (Friday 2nd September) and Polish (Tuesday 6th) counterparts next month.

Whilst "Dean’O" has played just 45 minutes of league football with Gudjon’s ratpack, the English-born defender is expected to push the experienced Rob Ullathorne for a first team place, with manager Gudjon Thordarson insisting upon competition in every department.

As a result of his call-up, however, Martin has sacrificed his involvement with County for the Friday night trip to Darlington.

NCM would like to wish Martin well on his international adventures.
