Matt Green the hero for Mansfield

Substitute Matt Green bagged a brace as Mansfield scored two stoppage-time goals to snatch a 3-1 victory in an absorbing local derby with Notts County.

The Stags had roared ahead when striker Green came on in the 54th minute and netted with his first touch seconds later.

Pat Hoban nodded the ball down to him in the box and his finish found the net via a deflection off Richard Duffy for Mansfield's first home goal in 440 minutes of football.

It seemed Notts had rescued a point when Alex Rodman scored with another deflected finish from a Vadaine Oliver nod-down eight minutes from time.

But a minute into added time Matt Tootle tripped Mal Benning in the box and Green dispatched the penalty high into the top-left corner.

And there was still time for fellow sub Darius Henderson to out-muscle two defenders in the box and steer home a low finish - his first goal for the club - to seal the Stags' first home win in five and first league victory since August.

Notts County had the best of the first 20 minutes and came close on three occasions

Jonathan Forte cut in from the right and forced goalkeeper Scott Shearer to turn the ball onto the near post and out for a corner in the 10th minute.

Then after 18 minutes the home side failed to clear a free-kick and Jon Stead turned well to fire goalwards, only for home skipper Lee Collins to head off the line.

Two minutes later Stead sent Forte clear but Shearer did well to get his body in the way, and Hoban was unlucky in the 62nd minute as his attempted chip came back off the crossbar with the keeper beaten.
