Managerial update: Alexander to join Posh

Alexander left his post at Lincoln City early last week following their play-off semi-final defeat to Grimsby Town – the fourth time he had lead the Imps to the play-offs in as many seasons.

Curle: In touch
And with Gudjon Thordarson having also abandoned his post as Notts boss this week, it would seem that Alexander – a manager seldom recognised for the attractiveness of his football – would represent a sound replacement for the outgoing Thordarson.

However, after this weekend's developments, it now seems that Alexander is Peterborough-bound, with stories leaking to the national press of his likely unveiling at a Press Conference on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, it has also emerged that a strange cycle could well be completed, with former Lincoln man Alexander joining Posh, ex-Peterborough man Mark Wright agreeing a return to Chester and former Chester City and, of course, Mansfield Town manager Keith Curle in-line to replace Gudjon Thordarson at Meadow Lane.

Reports in yesterday's Nottingham Evening Post claimed that ex-England international Curle had been in touch with the Magpies regarding the recently-vacated managerial post, with the former Stags man said to be desperate to get back into management.
