Magpies to swoop for Ullathorne

Ullathorne is set to become Gary Mills' eighth summer signing after he agreed terms on a two-year deal to join the Magpies after helping Northampton to the Third Division play-off semi-final last season. But, after rejecting a new deal at the Sixfields Stadium, Gary Mills wasted no time in securing the services of the 32-year old defender.

The veteran left-back, who indicated that a key factor in him signing was the opportunity of a new challenge, has a healthy CV boasting Norwich, Osasuna, Leicester and Sheffield United as his former employers as well as over 150 appearances at a host of clubs. But at the wrong side of 30, the prospect of one last crack at success was as sufficent a lure as Ullathorne needed to be convinced Notts County was the right club for him.

Ullathorne will officially join later this week, when his Northampton contract terminates.
