Magpies to hold Doyle decision

Now that the deadline for ‘emergency' loan deals is just two days away, manager Gudjon Thordarson has a big decision to make on one of his loan stars, with the contract of one Nathan Doyle now just days away from termination.

Doyle (pictured) signed just three weeks ago on a one-month loan from Championship side Derby County, after making just four appearances from the bench for the Rams this term.

Whilst any sign of a permanent move for the player seems beyond our reaches, Doyle has openly commented that he would like to stay with the Magpies – with whom he has made four consecutive starts since signing – for the remainder of the season.

Much of Thordarson's final decision, however, now hinges upon the severity of the knee injury picked up in Saturday's 0-0 deadlock with Oxford, with Doyle withdrawing shortly before half-time.

With the deadline falling before the weekend's clash with Northampton Town, Thordarson will have act fast if he is harbouring hopes of keeping the player beyond his current tenure.
