Magpies snap up Gobern and Gow

Notts County have today completed the double signing of Lewis Gobern and Alan Gow, who have recently left Grimsby Town and Motherwell respectively.

25 year-old winger Gobern previously worked with Notts manager Paul Ince at Milton Keynes Dons and knows the winger, who is said to be talented but frustrating. He was most recently at Grimsby Town, where he played nine times before being released following a training ground altercation with teammate Lee Ridley. His most impressive spell came on loan at Bury, where the former Wolves trainee impressed with his pace and directness.

Joining him at Meadow Lane is Scottish forward Alan Gow, who has signed a six-month deal following his release by Motherwell. The Scot shot to prominence at Falkirk, where impressive performances in a deep-lying attacking role persuaded Rangers to take him to Ibrox. Things didn't quite work out for him there and he ended up moving South to Plymouth Argyle, where he spent two years before returning for a short spell at Fir Park. He goes straight into the team for this afternoon's clash at Southampton.
