Magpies return to training

July 1st is a date that is often considered the start of pre-season by football fans, as it is the date that contracts expire and that most clubs and players return to pre-season training in preparation for the new season, with Notts County being no different.

The current squad, including five new signings, were put through their paces today as the preparation for the new season began at Meadow Lane. A serious of body-fat tests for the players was the first course of action, before they went for a jog at Wollaton Park to kick off the pre-season regime.

The squad was, however, one man light, with striker Delroy Facey missing due to his recent call-up for Grenada's Gold Cup squad, meaning he is currently in the USA preparing for the tournament. However, there were two other players included in the party in the form of Adam Nowland and John Curtis. Nowland was released by the Magpies at the end of the season, but after a back operation Ian McParland has invited the creative midfielder to help return to fitness, while John Curtis also trained with the squad in an attempt to keep fit as he searches for a new club, as he did for much of last season.

The squad now have 10 days in the UK to get pre-season on it's way before they fly out to Austria for a training camp in July 11th.
