Magpies Linked With Double Swoop

Walsall centre half Tony Barras and Norwich City winger Chris Llewellyn, available on free transfers, are both interesting Notts County manager Billy Dearden reports Radio Nottingham.

Barras, 32, is a tall commanding centre half with bags of experience in the football league having been at a number of clubs during the past few years including Reading, York City and Walsall.

He has faced The Magpies on a number of occasions for both York and Walsall, the last time Barras was in action against Notts was in March 2001 when Notts beat Walsall 2-0 at Meadow Lane, he also featued in The Saddlers' 5-1 win over The Magpies earlier in the season.

Welshman Llewellyn, 23, had a loan spell with Bristol Rovers last season from Norwich City, scoring 3 goals in 14 appearances from the left side of midfield.

He has 2 full international caps for the Welsh, one cap for the B Team and 14 caps for the Wales U21 side, while he made 158 appearances for Norwich, scoring 18 goals and is also interesting two clubs in his native Wales, with Wrexham and Swansea City showing keen interest as well as Bristol Rovers.

Both players would be welcome additions to the squad, with Notts short on the wing as well as in the centre half positions, added to the potential signings of Clive Platt (Striker - Free Transfer) and Felice Piccolo (Defender - Loan from Juventus) supporters could well finally see some fresh blood on the pitch.
