Magpies expect cup tie green light

The game was set to take place on Tuesday night after it fell victim to the adverse weather conditions eight days ago, but it was postponed a second time after local Football League referee Russell Booth conducted an inspection of the pitch at Meadow Lane on Monday afternoon.

The tie has been re-arranged for Tuesday, January 19, and County's head groundsman Trevor Hutchinson told the club's official website: "The constant frost has just stayed there, which has been the case since before Boxing Day.

"But temperatures have come up and things have started to melt and clear. We'll monitor it daily and if the temperatures go up we'll remove the frost sheet to allow the warmer temperatures into the soil to thaw it out.

"Once it does, I'm fairly confident most of the water will go through on its own. So for Tuesday, we're more confident than we have been for the last three weeks."
