MacLaren placed on leave

Last updated : 04 May 2006 By Richard Brown

The story broke on BBC Radio Nottingham this morning claiming the Notts number-two, who was only brought into the club last summer, had been suspended from his duties until further notice.

The club have, however, moved swiftly to deny such reports, placing a short statement on the club's web-site stating that manager Gudjon Thordarson's right-hand man (pictured) has been placed on a ‘temporary leave of absence'.

It is believed though, that it is a fall-out with Thordarson that has caused the move, with the club looking to avoid friction ahead of the weekend.

The news threatens to further shrink the already fragile confidence in the Magpies' camp shortly before the club's most important game of their history, as Thordarson's men look to retain their Football League status
at home to Bury.

Tickets for this match have, of course, been reduced to just £10 for adults and £6 for concessions to help boost attendances. For more information on this offer, click here.
