Loan to save Notts County?

Although no official word is yet to come from the Football League or Notts County's administrator it appears that Notts County are set to escape extinction after receiving a loan from Nottingham City Council reports BBCi.

The Supporters' Trust had fallen short of the £250,000 target they had agreed to raise in order to ensure the survival of the club. But with the aid of the loan they now have the required finance.

This loan should now enable the Blenheim consortuim, which is being led by former director Peter Joyce, to complete the £1.4 million takeover of the club.

Supporters' Trust chairman David Hindley has told the Nottingham Evening Post that the club is still not guaranteed survival. "In fact, our actual target was more like £500,000. We would like to contribute more to the club's future."

The news will be welcomed by Notts fans who raised over £50,000 over the weekend to try and save their club from dying.
