Liburd set to sign for Lincoln

Liburd has been offered a 12 month contract by Lincoln boss, Keith Alexander and looks set to become a Lincoln player either later on today or tomorrow.

Liburd has been training with Lincoln ever seen he was released by Billy Dearden at the end of last season.

Liburd was a regular in Notts starting line-up ever since joining The Magpies in 1999.

He became well known for his versitility, playing on either side as a Full Back or a Winger.

He had a love/hate relationship with the fans in his time as a Notts player & became well known for his laid back attitude & dreadlocked hairstyle.
The chant 'Liburd for England' was also often heard belting out from Meadow Lane many a time.

However, towards the end of the last season, where Liburd was Notts regular left winger, he became unpopular with the fans, who felt he gave the ball away far to frequently & added little to the team.

Keith Alexander, Lincoln's boss had this to say: "I've known Richard for a long time and tried to sign him last year."

I'm sure this leaves many Notts fans wondering why he wasn't sold then.

Liburd made 128 appearances for Notts, scoring 9 goals, one of which was 2000's goal of the season, an absoloute cracker against Wigan in an FA Cup replay.
