“The fixture list has been kinder to us because we haven’t got too many five-hour journeys on a Tuesday night,” he said.
“We’ve got Carlisle whereas we had Exeter and Yeovil last season.
“Then at Christmas time we’ve got two nice home games which is going to be a lot better for me.
“We were here there and everywhere last time, so there’s no complaints from this season unlike last.
“But I am a really looking forward to it and this where the excitement really starts to build.
“I am delighted we are at home on the opening day of the season,” he said.
“It’s going to be a tough one because Colchester were one of the best sides to come here last season.
“They will be prepared and ready to go, but we managed to get two good results against them.
“After that game you can assess where you are and know what you need.
“We’ve got Mansfield and then Lincoln who are just down the road and that always adds extra spice,
“MK Dons will be a good outfit and there’s Tranmere too. I know a lot of lads there from being over the water in Liverpool.”
