Kelvin: Give me a contract!

The 19-year defender, who has come on in leaps and bounds since his debut at this stage last season, has reportedly requested to sign a two-year contract extension at Meadow Lane.

Wilson: Hot property
The youngster, whose contract with the club expires at the end of next campaign, has been under the watchful eye of the likes of a whole host of clubs in the English league’s top tier, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal.

But, as reported in the Nottingham Evening Post earlier today, the Magpies appear to be succeeding in the uphill battle to keep Kelvin. Although, with the youngster seeming to have his feet firmly on the ground, Kelvin’s wanting to stick with the Magpies could sway the club’s bid to keep him.

"Kelvin has said that he would like a new contract," said Richardson, speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post. "He has asked for a two-year deal."

"He knows there are a lot of clubs taking an interest in him - Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs were all at the game again last weekend."

"But he also knows that he is still learning. He is getting better with every game."

Whilst Richardson seems mutely resigned to losing his child protégé – a product of the club’s youth system, the Notts boss has admitted that he would relish the chance of keeping the young defender for at least another season.

"If he went to a Premiership club, he would be playing regular first-team football within a year. He is that good."

"But if he does sign a new deal with us it would be a good move for everyone."

Unlucky, Jose.
