The places are hotting up at Maine Road now that Man City have entered the highlighhts of the Premiership. And Whitley, when he was at County was certainly something of a different level. He was a key figure in some of the Notts games during the "great escape" campaign. BUt Man City Manager Kevin Keegan has transfer listed him and says he wont play for the first team again:

"Jeff knows what his situation is now at the club,” said City manager Kevin Keegan to the Manchester Evening News. “He went to Notts County and did a great job for them there, but he has slipped down the pecking order. He has a year left on his contract, but could end up playing in the reserves," explained the manager.

"I can't see him playing in the first team again" - Keegan
"I know that will be difficult for him as he is a Manchester City fan but I can't see him making the first team. As a player around the place he is great and I don't have any argument with him."

"Jeff will be available," confirmed Kevin Keegan. "I can't say he won't get a shirt here again but it would be in the reserves as I can't see him playing for the first team again."
