Jupp, who joined on loan from Wimbledon in November 2002, made eight appearances for The Magpies without scoring a goal.

Following his loan spell he was released by The Dons, and he rejoined Notts on a non contract basis and made one further appearance, from the bench against Wycombe, before joining Luton Town for the rest of the season.

He made five appearances for The Hatters, making his debut against Notts at Meadow Lane, with Notts coming out on top by winning 2-1.

Following his release from Luton before the end of the season, Jupp played a handful of reserve games for Southend and boss Steve Wignall, appointed as manager at the end of April, admits he likes what he has seen of Jupp and is keen to snap the defender up if he can prove his fitness during pre-season after a knee operation he has just had.

"Duncan is a quality player, he's played in a couple of reserve team games and shown that he has good communication skills and that he had a pretty good level of fitness." Wignall told Southend's official site.
