County boss, Gary Mills, has thus far refused to name the player he's racing to sign to fill the gap left by the departure of another club legend, Mark Stallard who left Meadow Lane and the club he loves for Barnsley.

Tommy left the Magpies following a tiff with then manager, Neil Warnock during the 1991/92 season. He left for Derby after making 149 appearances for the Magpies, scoring 57 times.

Johnson still owns a property in Nottingham and subsequent to the Notts County Legends match, held last October to help raise much needed funds for the club, Tommy revealed how he’d love to return to the club which kick-started his magnificent career at the age of 17.

Well Tommy, we’d be glad to have you back.
