Talking about Jones’s injury, Stuart Maynard said “Jodi is a huge miss for us, when you look at the amount of goal contributions he has had already this season it shows his importance to us.
“When you’re without your big players it can have an impact at times and you could see a player like Jodi having a positive impact on a game like this [the Morecambe draw].
“AJ [Alassana Jatta] is missing as well and Robbo [Scott Robertson] came off the bench and had a grip on the whole game with how he dominated in midfield. We’re missing some big players at the minute, but we’ve said already that we need the whole squad to play a part.
“We made sure we had a squad that was capable of coping and you look at how the subs have made an impact and everyone has played their part so far.”
“It was a terrible foul against Gillingham that has caused it, but it has been a trend this season with a lot of our players and a lot of the injuries we’ve sustained have been impact ones.
“I’ve been saying in my pressers going back two or three weeks that we want physical contact in the game, but we’ve also had situations where we’ve been kicked off the park where Jodi and others have got injured as a result.
“That is something that needs to be cut out of the game, we want physical contact, but it has got to be done in the right way.”
