Edwards... Big Move
The biggest deal of the day saw Roy Keane's Sunderland capture Luton Town winger Carlos Edwards for £1.4 million. The former Wrexham man appeared three times for Trinidad and Tobago in the World Cup, and will make his debut in the Fa Cup against Preston on Saturday.

The Black Cats also captured Spurs goalkeeper Martin Fulop, with Ben Alnwick moving the opposite way. Fulop cost £500,000 whilst Alnwick's fee may eventually be £1.3 million.

Completing a busy day at Sunderland, former Mansfield Town wide man Liam Lawrence left the club to join fellow Championship outfit Stoke City. He cost the Potters £500,000.

Tottenham made the earliest signing of the day, taking Lens youngster Adel Taarabt on loan. The attacking midfielder is said to be one of the game's brightest prospects. Martin Jol beat off competition from the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.

Leeds United have made a double swoop, capturing defenders Matthew Heath and Robbie Elliot from Coventry and Sunderland respectively.

Possibilities:

Mansfield Town talisman Richie Barker should sign for Hartlepool by the end of the week. Pool boss Danny Wilson has tabled a serious offer, that is unlikely to be rejected by hard up Stags Chairman Keith Haslam.

Hunt...Wants a big move

Former Notts hardman James Hunt is wanted by struggling League One side Brentford. The Bees are set to offer him a deal until the end of the season, following his removal from the Bristol Rovers side.

Top Championship sides are set to want Tore Andre Flo in their ranks. Norway's former Chelsea striker has been released by Valerenga, and Leeds United, QPR and Crystal Palace have all registered an interest.

Leyton Orient full-back Matt Lockwood will not be moving to Nottingham Forest, according to his current boss Martin Ling.
