Curses
The Carling Cup, should Notts have over-turned West Ham at Upton Park on Tuesday, would have pulled a real rabbit from the hat in terms of big-bucks cup draws last night. The victors, West Ham of Tuesday’s 3-2 battle now prepare for a Third Round visit to Stamford Bridge, where they will meet none other than our Third Round opponents of last season, Chelsea.

But the Magpies wretched luck does not stop there.

Hours after Mills had been said to be sweating on a more accurate diagnosis of defender, Mike Edwards’ injury, it was revealed that Edwards had, indeed, sustained cruciate knee ligament damage and will be out of action for around six months.

Edwards will go under the surgeon’s knife soon in a bid to correct the injury, before undergoing a lengthy period of physiotherapy.
