Is he the right man for the job?

Under fire: Certain sections of fans are questioning McParland's capabilities.
The hottest topic on the site's messageboard over the last few days has been regarding Ian McParland's future as manager.

Tensions have been gradually rising as Notts continue to churn out substandard performances, which are being painfully topped off by some terrible results.

Five losses in the last six league games has seen the Magpies' early season potential fade away with any remaining hopes of making the play-offs.

The frustrating draw with non-league Kettering Town at the weekend did not help to calm these concerns and it now appears that the section of supporters questioning the capabilities of the current coaching set-up is growing larger.

Others are calling for patience, so that McParland can turn the club's fortunes around, rather than re-introduce the all too familiar feeling of instability by sacking him.

Chopping and changing managers has not worked too well in recent years, meaning that giving somebody a sustained period at the helm of the club may be the key to progression.

Taking action now could also be seen as very hasty when considering that a number of key players are missing from the injury-stricken squad.

But, as morale declines and the dreaded 'R' word starts to get thrown around like a hot potato, pressure on the board increases significantly.

John Armstrong-Holmes seems to have broad shoulders and is likely to stick with the current backroom staff, who he has spoken very highly of.

In the site's pre-season interview with him, he said: "They have the full support of myself and the board.

"We will do everything we can to make sure this football club moves onwards and upwards.

"Things can be achieved. We're talking about two very talented coaches in Ian and Dave [Kevan]."

To get a sense of where everyone stands on this issue, Notts County Mad's latest poll wants to discover whether fans think that McParland is the correct man for the job.

You can cast your vote by heading back to the home page, where the poll can be found half-way down the right side.

The census will close on Friday, December 5.
