International round-up

David Pipe - Welsh Dragon
Under the watchful eye of; Wales boss Mark Hughes; captain, Gary Speed and the entire Welsh coaching staff, a brutal under-21outfit battled out a tough encounter with just 10-men to ensure their European Under-21 Championship qualifying campaign hit the ground running. A late sucker punch from Wales’ Matthew Cromwell felling their Azerbaijani equivalents.

However, the forcible contest could well have seen two Azerbaijanis suffering the same feat as debutant, Swansea's Stuart Jones – dismissed for a second bookable offence. Notts’ David Pipe, who managed a whole ninety minutes for the Dragons, was in typical form, becoming involved in a scuffle with the Azeri’s Rashad Sadigov.

Matthew Cromwell – contracted to League One outfit, Wrexham – scored the only goal of the game late on to seal victory for Wales.

Wayne Henderson’s international experience was over before it had even kicked off…literally. He was unavailable for the match after being deemed unfit, reportedly pulling out of the pre-match warm-up with bruised ribs, hence missing his side’s 3-0 over the Cyprus under-21’s.

Both Pipe and Henderson will miss today’s clash with Cheltenham due to their international involvement.
