Injured Scully is wanted

Scully was injured at Colchester on Saturday and is set to miss the remainder of the season through an ankle injury. But despite being on the sidelines for the remainder of the season, manager Mills feels Scully has done enough prior to the injury to convince him that he is worthy of a new contract.

Scully Is Wanted
Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post; "I think he has done enough to earn something for next season.

It is certainly something we will be looking at, because it would be good for us to keep him on.

It is also something that would probably be good for Tony, given that he was playing non-league football earlier in the season.

We gave him a chance and he has taken it and earned something for next season."

After scoring an absolute wonder goal against Blackpool at Meadow Lane a few weeks back- his third of the season- Scully looks set to be part of the team next season. He has cemented his place in the side with some silky performances on the left wing and has shown he has the ability to change a game around, like he did when he jumped off the bench at Rushden in March.

Meanwhile, another summer signing target Paul Boertien - who had been on loan at Notts from Derby County earlier this season- now looks set to be out of action for up to six months after damaging cruciate knee ligaments.

Boertien: Out For Six Months

Mills was almost certain to make a move for him in the summer, but now this will be impossible as he is due to miss the start of next season and it could be October/November before the full-back returns to full fitness, Mills told the Nottingham Evening Post; "It is unfortunate for him and for us, because it would have been something we might have looked at in the summer.

Obviously he did very well for us when he was here and we did want to sign him permanently.

But it is not something we will look at again until he is fit and that could be six months from now."
