Impressive duo pen deals

The young pairing have both trained with the Magpies throughout the summer, and have impressed boss Gudjon Thordarson enough to be handed non-contract deals at the club. It is also thought that permanent deals for the duo aren't far away.

20-year-old Long (pictured left) was released in the summer by Premiership Charlton and has been one of the star performers in an impressive pre-season for Thordarson's men. The midfielder netted in last night's 2-1 Bass Charity Vase win over Burton Albion, and also volleyed home in the 2-0 victory at Hucknall Town.

The lively midfield-man has represented England at under-20 level and has impressed Magpies' fans with his energetic displays during the close-season.

19-year-old Sheriden, meanwhile, comes from the other end of the spectrum. The local lad plays for Dunkirk in the Central Midlands League, where he is paid a fee of £50 a game.

The young winger, though, has adapted well to the giant step-up in pre-season, and looks to have a big future in the game. He netted Notts' consolation in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at Hereford.

He has been named ahead of the more experienced Tony Scully in the squad for tomorrow's fixture.

NCM would like to wish both players the best of luck in their Notts County careers.
