Speculation has been rife as to the inheritor of Ian Richardson’s managerial post, as ‘Richo’ who stepped down from the position earlier this week, with a number of names being thrown into the hat.

Thordarson: Now unemployed
And, with local press insisting a new man will be appointed over the next few days, it is the former Iceland, Stoke and Barnsley manager who has been the centre of attraction for the clubs fans.

Expectations of Thordarson stepping into the job were stepped up yesterday, as reports came through that the former Stoke City man had resigned from Icelandic club, Keflavik due to ‘contractual disagreements’.

By pure coincidence, it was Thordarson who signed former Notts striker Mark Stallard for Barnsley in the January of last year, raising hopes of another return from Stallard, who’s contract expires this summer.

With a return to British football looking likely, the Scandinavian has revealed his interest in taking up the Notts post.

"I think Notts County have got a bit of history and could be a decent opportunity," Thordarson said, speaking to skysports.com.

"I resigned (from Keflavik) because of personal reasons. They didn't fulfil their obligations in the contract."

"Now, I will look into my options and my possibilities."

Rest assured that Notts County MAD will keep their viewers up-to-date with the latest on the club’s managerial situation.
