Hurst: We're right behind you, gaffer.

In an offering of faith, something which was worryingly exempt from the back end of former boss Gary Mills’ tenure, the club’s leading scorer Glynn Hurst today backed his caretaker boss, Ian Richardson on behalf of the playing staff. Also making a plea to the board to offer the manager’s position to our beloved Richardson on a permanent basis.

Hurst - We want Richo!
Richardson – in his ninth year as a Notts County employee – took on the managers role all too willingly after the club ‘parted company’ with former manager, Gary Mills. Since his appointment, the Notts player-manager has seen his inherited Magpies institute a mini-renaissance that has seen the Magpies endure just two defeats in the six-games he’s been in charge.

Whilst both of the two league matches on the road have ended in defeat, the 34-year old boss has managed to take Swindon to a FA Cup Second Round replay, totally turn around the fortunes of the on-the-field problems as of late and maintain a four-match winning streak at the ‘Lane as of late. An obvious cause for much buoyancy about the permanent appointment of Richardson amongst the fans and – as per reports today –apparently players alike.

Speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post, Hurst said "It would be good to have some stability, the lads would like to know what the situation is."

"We are all behind Richo and we are working hard for him. There is no question about that."

"We are all playing for him and will continue to do so. Things have changed for the better since he took over."

"But it would be good if something could be made official, one way or another."

"It is not a massive problem but it is not ideal. It would just be good to know what is happening, because things do seem to be up in the air a little bit."

Notts take on Wycombe Wanderers at Meadow Lane tomorrow.
