Hurst wants in

Despite Patrick Kluivert being out of contract making himself an, ahem, potential target, Gary Mills has opted for the far more modest figure of Glynn Hurst, the 13-goal Saltergate wonder-boy, as it was officially revealed right from the Hurst's mouth, as it were, on Chesterfield's Official Site, as he spoke about his proposed move further towards the heart of the Midlands.

The South African striker, who hardly fits into the 'big target man' mould that Mills had been setting his sights on, was to become a free-agent following turning down a contract extension at the Derbyshire club but is now expected to arrive at Meadow Lane at some stage this week for a medical and to cross the T's and dot the I's as it were on a two-year deal, much to the anger of the Spireites faithful he leaves behind who have been left very much with a bitter taste in their mouths in the groin with regards to losing one of their top performers through the course of last season.

The memory of Hurst is, however, unlikely to be affected by his departure after playing the hero in his last ever game for the Derbyshire outfit, scoring the goal that kept their survival dream alive and kicking, ultimately saving the Spireites from the abyss. Hurst also turned down another 'concrete' deal at a club unidentified by Hurst in favor of a move to Meadow Lane.

Hurst had this to say the the Official web-site of Chesterfield FC: "After a two and a half hour meeting with Gary Mills, I came to the conclusion to take a step back to take hopefully two forward with Notts County."

"There were two concrete offers and a few if this happens and doesn't happen offers and I wasn't prepared to sit around and wait for somebody to fall by the wayside and then come in as the managers second choice and at 28, that's the last thing I need."

"I think with the squad Gary Mills is putting together we have a good chance of promotion and from there possibly doing well in the Second Division as well."

Be sure that, as usual, an in-depth look into potentially the next addition to Mills' ranks will be online on no other than NCM within the next few days.
