Hurst: The goals will come

Quite unbelievably, Hurst has scored just twice in his last eighteen appearances for County now.

His last goals coming in the Magpies 2-0 slaying of then league runners-up, Scunthorpe United at Meadow Lane and, first, in the New Years day win at Cheltenham.

Despite his contributions being somewhat overshadowed of the return of Notts legend, Mark Stallard to the side, the 29-year old South African striker believes that the goals are sure to come…soon that is.

And, regardless of recent criticisms from the fans, the former Chesterfield man insists that, if he continues playing as he is now, that the plaudits are sure to return, especially after being named County’s most dangerous player in a recent feature in FourFourTwo magazine.

Speaking to the Nottingham Evening Post earlier today, Hurst said "I believe I am playing well. I am getting in the right positions and the goals will come. As long as I keep getting opportunities, it will not be long before I score."

"I would honestly be happy if I didn't get another goal for the rest of the season - as long as we were winning matches," said Hurst.

"But it is not something I am too concerned about."

On the arrival of another former Chesterfield man, and his new-found strike partner, Mark Stallard, Hurst appeared satisfied with by far Richardson’s most highly respected signing yet.

"I am also enjoying a decent partnership with Mark Stallard. He has made a big difference since he arrived."

"But there are other lads in the team who are getting goals, which is taking the pressure off us."

Hurst currently has eight league goals to his name for the club.
