Hunt already back in training

Notts County centre back Stephen Hunt has already started his own preparations for the new season, by getting straight into some light pre-season training after returning from his holiday.

Hunt has endured an injury plagued two years after an impressive debut season at Meadow Lane, and hopes to cement his place back in Ian McParland's plans after earning a new one-year deal at the end of last season.

The former Southampton and Colchester United man wants to be in tip-top shape when his teammates return for pre-season training on July 1st, and hopes to give himself  the best possible chance of regaining his place in the team by ensuring he is fully fit for the start of the new campaign, and to prove that he is no longer blighted by the various injuries that have hit him over the last two years.Stephen Hunt

After being Gudjon Thordarson's last signing at Meadow Lane, Hunt impressed in his first season under Steve Thompson with his solid and unassuming displays at the centre of the Notts defence, but in his second season he failed to form a solid partnership with Adam Tann and began to pick up a succession of injuries that have restricted him to far less appearances in the past two seasons than he would've liked.

After being awarded a one-year deal along with Ben Fairclough, the only out of contract players to be given a deal, it is a make of break season for Hunt who needs to prove his fitness and that he hasn't lost his ability over the past two years if he is to have a future at Meadow Lane.
