Huge Injury Blow for The Magpies…

It is believed that Notts County's influential club captain, Mike Edwards has suffered a suspected broken ankle in The Magpies' pre-season clash with St. Blazey.

The incident came mid-way through the first half when Edwards fell awkwardly, meaning that he had to be carried off on a stretcher with his leg heavily bandaged, and subsequently taken to hospital.

A photographer at the game later stated that he had "broken his ankle", but confirmation of the extent of the injury is expected to be announced later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

The reliable centre-back - nicknamed "Steady Eddy" for his consistent performances in the black and white stripes, has been an ever present for the last two seasons, after returning from a long term knee ligament injury.

This could prove a major blow to Steve Thompson's preparations for the upcoming campaign, should the injury be as bad as is first thought, with Edwards being such a key figure in the County squad.
