Hitman Hurst in shock Meadow Lane exit

Last updated : 29 December 2005 By Rob Davies
The 29-year-old hasn't featured for the Magpies since falling-out with manager Gudjon Thordarson at half-time in the 1-1 draw at Wrexham earlier this month.

Hurst had been enjoying a rich vein of goal-scoring form under Thordarson, netting nine times this season in 20 appearences.

The striker had also finished at the top of the Magpies' scoring charts last season, finding the net 15 times in his first season as a Notts County player.

The experienced frontman twice netted away-day hat-tricks since signing for the Magpies under Gary Mills, but his County career was to reach an abrupt end after Thordarson removed the striker mid-way through the match at the Racecourse Ground.

Hurst's replacement that day, 19-year-old Jake Sheridan, scored the Magpies goal that day and has impressed in Notts' two subsequent fixtures.

Hurst was an unused substitute during the club's 2-0 victory over Stockport, but wasn't even named in the squad of 16 that travelled to Oxford on Boxing Day.

His sudden departure means Thordarson should now have the funds to make a move for a striker in the January transfer window, while Hurst is unlikely to be short of offers as he bids to find himself a new club.

All at NCM wish Glynn the very best on his future career.
