He's Back!!

Last updated : 23 November 2004 By Rob Davies
Mills was 'relieved of his first-team duties' at the club just under three weeks ago by the board, after some quite shocking displays left the Magpies languishing towards the bottom of 'League Two'.

However, what with the complex nature of his dismissal (the club insist that he was not sacked) it is likely to be a long drawn out process to decide on the 42-year-old's payoff.

And, despite originally turning down the offer of a new role within the club, Mills appears to have conducted somewhat of a U-Turn and is thought to have atleast temporarily accepted the, ahem, prestigious title of Youth Team Assistant Manager.

Mills was in at the club for the majority of yesterday and was there again today. An announcement from the club is expected (or at least neccesary) in the near future.

Mills was appointed as first-team manager in January of this year and immediately began telling everyone what he would do and just how he would do it. Unfortunately, popular as those words originally made him with the Magpie faithful, they came back to haunt him as Notts badly struggled at the start of this season.

He was eventually put out of his misery at the start of this month, along with his assistant Darron Gee, after a humiliating 5-1 defeat at Rushden & Diamonds.
