Henderson tops the class

Saul Deeney: Frustrated, once more.
Henderson, currently four weeks into a three-month loan at Meadow Lane, was in fine-form at the Sixfields Stadium this afternoon, as another lacklustre Notts ‘performance’ saw the Magpies stretch to a third consecutive game without a win. This latest failure to meet the optimism at the start of the season not helping hush rightfully concerned supporters, as the Magpies lie dubiously in the relegation zone tonight.

After returning from international duty with his indigenous Republic of Ireland under-21’s, Henderson, unlike some of those ‘keepers who went before him, managed to produce a string of saves to help spare Notts’ blushes.

Steve Sutton, quick to commend his star pupil’s deed told the Nottingham Evening Post: "Wayne has come back from international duty and looked very sharp. He had an outstanding game and produced some excellent saves.

"We can take a lot of positives from the game," he added. "This was a much better point for us than the one against Cheltenham as a draw at Northampton is a magnificent result for us. It was a battling performance, and the back four were outstanding."

NCM will bring you a full match report of today’s proceedings, at early doors tomorrow.
