Reports suggest that Notts County are set to complete a deal for Preston North End striker Karl Hawley next week. The Carlisle Times & Star today reported that Hawley had rejected a move back to his former club in favour of moving to Meadow Lane and it is believed that Hawley is set for a medical at the club early next week.

The former Carlisle United man has been frozen out at Deepdale, particularly after the departure of former boss Paul Simpson to Shrewsbury Town. He came through the youth system at Walsall and impressed on loan at Raith Rovers, but was released after just 1 game for the Saddlers before joining Carlisle United. He scored 47 league goals in total for the Cumbrians, including 26 when they were promoted to League One, before leaving on a free to link up with Simpson at Preston. He had spells on loan at League One sides Northampton Town and Colchester United last season.
